White House leaking controversy
The Washington Post report says that according to White House it has no evidence of wrongdoing by Bush adviser Karl Rove or others and therefore no reason to begin an internal investigation. This is of course after CIA operative's name was divulged in an effort to discredit her husband, a prominent critic of Bush's Iraq policy. The controvery is whether part of the administration had leaked to journalist about the wife of prominent Bush critic is working for CIA. Wilson said yesterday that he believes Rove "at a minimum condoned the leak," but said he has no evidence Rove was the original leaker.

Uh oh and you thought only PM Blair and Company has leaking problems! Sheesh. The controversy doesn't really do Bush favor cos elections coming up and anything that might seen as something to hold against adminstrative failure or crises can be potential weapon by those who are going to run up againsthim come 2004. But there's more to the White house controversy than just leaking names I suppose. Uhm and Bush wows action too
The Terminator is leading
It's Ahhhnuld leading in the in Recall polls.. and says I'll be back..as the Governator(of Calif). Hehehe..lets wait for October 7
Outrageous and so a bill is passed!
Heh. Law is in effect making it illegal for any acts of suicides or of any similar kind of gimmicky in concerts. Apparently rockband Hell on Earth will feature onstage suicide by a terminally ill person would take place during a concert Saturday to raise awareness of right-to-die issues.

It's probably not a concert but more of stupidity act

A long blog(acckkkk!!) Because Blah..nothing new to blog about..seems all the news are thesame; Iraq, Bush, UN, Election, and so on and so meantime here's something. Why do I blog? Blogging here is really just for quick thoughts and commentaries about news and other stuff I see on the web and I make one or two comments. So what really makes it different? When people say weblog is like personal online journal..well I think not..cos the purist of the bloggers will tell there's a big difference: "A weblog (sometimes called a blog or a newspage or a filter) is a webpage where a weblogger (sometimes called a blogger, or a pre-surfer) 'logs' all the other webpages she finds interesting." — Jorn Barger, Weblog Guru meanhwile... A web journal, conversely, looks inward — the author's thoughts, experiences, and opinions." and wandering around I saw this "Private, intimate thoughts are not revealed in a blog, it is a record of opinions." I do agree that there's really a distinction, a variance of what really is that seperates the two main thing. The problem is..more and more make weblogs their online journal. Why? I dunno. Because some tools are user friendly I guess. When one really looks at it. If you have a journal/diary(there's also a difference between the two..I think) you go register your diary at diarist.net and for your blogs..Uhm, list like in a blog directory.

And they're off to Liberia and not Mindanao
Our soldiers will go to Liberia for peacekeeping mission. It's a nice gesture for UN..uhmm, I guess there aren't any muslims rebels to fight with in Liberia. Yay!
Hahahaha..mistresses beware!
News from Duyan via Washington Times
There's a campaign called report-a- mistress. Can you dig that!?! Yikes! So much for (Filipino)Politicians having extra marital affairs! I wonder if this is one of those only in the Philippines kinda thingie. Hehe. But then what about the Women in Politics..they need to have one for themselves too. It's not only men whos got secret affairs you know. Teeheee :)
Who should help rebuild Iraq?
Washington Post article sayslet the Arabs help Iraq get back on it's own and I agree with that but can they do it? It's high time that the debate at the United Nations turned away from recrimination and the settling of diplomatic scores and began to address the needs of the Iraqi people.

Arab scholars has the mind and brains to come up with a respectable rebuilding plan for Iraq with the help of UN but..will the US approve of it? NO! don't think so. Why? cos they're the US! The one who liberated Iraq
Lets look for the White Rabbit
What do you know but Matrix Revolution trailer is doing the rounds everywhere. If you have real one or windows media player, try and see the preview. I just wish this last installment will be better than the Reloaded..cos I actually didn't like it even though effects are very awesomely techie. OST should be good too. Hehe :)

Little by little they're inching their way in ASIA..Oh no!
According to NYtimesthe recording industry's problems with the illegal online distribution of music in the United States pale beside the rampant piracy that goes on overseas. Yikes and And they say America is just the tip of the Iceberg when it comes to ridding the world of illegal music and file sharing and protecting copy rights.

Beware for one never knows what'll happen.

Hollywood...ish people. The media. California itself. Hahahaa. Howard Kurtz of Washington Post have ths article of the differrent reactions to the debate.

I didn't get the chance to see it (CNN must've aired somebits of it) cos I had school yesterday..but would've laughed at the exchange between Arianna Huffington and The Terminator Arnold S..Hehehe.

blogging the news

Yikes.. I mentioned Sacbees Weintraub blogs (California insider..link down below) there's a controversy it seems and I am dazed and confused and just reading it now via Romenesko and the link. The problem is this ...
The blogosphere gets fired up when Daniel Weintraub's California Insider gets pre-edited after a controversial posting. Read the whole article from OJR

Okay the thing is should the news weblogs copy a Press release? edit?. Have it all blogged in verbatim? More and more are using the web blog as form of news and there's bound to be trouble in some aspects of it. I know CNN does not adhere to news blogging..remember, they wanted to put a stop to that news blog from Kevin sites during the war in Iraq.
j
Total California Recall Debate
Let the show begin! Running for Governors will debate later(a.m here Manila time) and now lets see how The Terminator will handle issues of concerns and other California sh1ts! I hope not by having a rebuttal of "I'll be back!" Hahaha. Read more newsies from California Insider

And geez I think I hear the candidates singing California Dreaaming..Hahaha :)

Uh oh and the rival has awakened!
Maybe they realized that it doesn't want to be play scond fiddle to INTEL when it comes to chip making, AMD is to launch new, ultrafast 64-bit processors for consumer PCs ..oh wow, now I think video editing and other computing stuff one does online will have super chip powers. Not that INTEL doesn't do a good job of same thing(my pc has one..who doesn't? :p)

Oooh a new nibblers! Yum or Yuck?

The planned war

Planning the 9/11 terror plot started way back in '96
News via USA TODAY/AP
.....that the original plan called for hijacking five commercial jets on each U.S. coast before it was modified several times, ......Mohammed told his interrogators he had worked in 1994 and 1995 in the Philippines with Ramzi Yousef, Abdul Hakim Murad and Wali Khan Amin Shah on the foiled Bojinka plot to blow up 12 Western airliners simultaneously in Asia.

Yeah, that Bojinka plot was foiled here in the Philippines...thats why this country is always being mentioned as hotbed for terrorist. Anyhow, US intelligence should do more to intercept and to act more fast(er) to prevent acts of terrorism from happening again in that magnitude of September 11.
It's been raining and thundering here and I'm still awake(obviously!) I have to be in school sooooooo damn early in the morning like seven thirty..ish! Grrr!

Whos wrong whos right?
Couple of month ago I blogged about the controversial Mel Gibson's Movie about Jesus Christ's life. And now there was a column that appeared that had made Mel Gibson seething with anger. The NYTimes Frank Rich had this to say: Movie stars expect to get their own way. They are surrounded by sycophants, many of them on the payroll....Mr. Gibson's tirade sounded less like a fatwa from the Ayatollah Khomeini than a tantrum from Sinatra in his cups.

Read and be the judge

Dress to kill or dress to win..diamonds!
University students love to wear sexy dress; Most women students wore undersized shirts and skirts with long slits that showed too much flesh... Revealing dress was inappropriate for a learning environment and could distract young men.In an effort to promote "proper" dressing for the students, Bangkok University is giving diamonds as prize for students who can dress conservatively.

Uhmm yeah okay. Maybe I think it's more like bribe. Haha. Geez would that even work here in the Philippines were even not the Universities but the Colleges and other schools have students who reveal too much(skin or otherwise)but hey you got it flaunt it..just don't overdo it cos one might be termed HOE..that's yikers I think. Hahaha.

Yayness me! bunch of old geezer maties..hehehe ;) and the old Sheila is asking for lump sum of money..geesh! ^__^..old folksies!
Blogging for a bit...Teeehee, I said to Daadd I'm not gonna online cos I'm gonna watch Gilmore Girls and a replay of Six feet Under..but it's not yet on t.v soo I'm kinda just waiting for it..of course the t.v is on..and I'm multitasking as it is. But okay I'll blog off once the show is on :)
If it ain't broke, dont fix it!
THIS BLOG WAS POSTED THE OTHER DAY AND I'VE EDITED IT AND POSTING IT AGAIN!(hehe, I am my own editor)
Well, I've thought about it since way before and even I blogged about it last couple of months or so. I'm talking about moving to antville or greymatter or MT. But I guess I just don't have the patience to do so or to know how to. I'm totally lost when it comes to downloading some things on the net. I realized though that I'm comfortable with BLOGGER. I don't need to go to their site. I just right click and "blog this" whenever I wanna blog something and it's easy. It's not rss or tableless or validates anything(though my journal is). None of those add ons(except maybe for a blogroll) that a weblogs must have. But I mean I want to have all the necessary stuff because I mostly blog about nothing. Hehe. Blogs mostly whatever fancies me. Uhmm okay bottom line is I'm happy about this plain simple blogsite that I have. I want to move(the site) but I think I'll stay. Yey..end of this blogaduh! hehehe..this is too long a blog for me!
Oh to be rich and famous in the geeky world

And so the name dropping
I remember blogging about this news last month and now here is the latest: the board of directors has voted to drop AOL from its name and stock-trading ticker symbol.

Could there be any difference with or without the brand name of AOL? if the company is doing bad, brand name or no brand name it'll do bad...and same with if it's doing good.

Life under the Taliban...

Tells the story of a girl forced to disguise herself as a boy to escape the oppressive conditions that the Taliban, who sheltered Osama Bin Laden and his Al Qaeda network, inflicted on women.

It's actually a movie from an Afghanistan Born film maker. I think that watching the news reading sources and seeing images and documentaries are stories itself of how Bin laden and Taliban has treated women and children in the land.
If anybody cares at all
Hahaha I actually saw Larry King interviewing Ahhhnuld in his CNN show(yesterday) and looks like The terminator is already speaking like a seasoned politician...but still the accent is there and I can't help but laugh at the thoughts the many spoofs they are having of him :)

Thursday, September 18, 2003

Blah before I blog off. I don't like people that constantly blog about nothing..so..I don't like myself! Hahaha.. just a plug here Crazy Thinking has moved to a new home http://crazypundit.typepad.com. Nice..do a house call and webvisit it.
And did you know..Mobile phones used by people who works in hospitals can spread dangerous infectious agents

And we thought we're safe in hospitals..hehe..well, we are, just dont use the(cell)phone or sms'ed someone when doing work, I guess. :p
Nokia lacking of new ideas and design
says Gizmodo Nokia does take some risks, like with the 6800 or the N-Gage, they still look pretty much like the same boring Nokia phones we've all seen before, just slightly different in some way. Full story from mobitopia

But Nokia's user friendly here..and still the popular one.

Technology supposed to help not be a hindrance

Is it illegal to share music? Of course that is being debated and discussed now after the RIAA went after those who are file sharing music...which are mostly kids. I don't have KaZaa but..I download music too..I don't share it though. So..if they do thesame and then share it and then sell it(is that how it works?)then that be infringing copyrights. But they just share it...so nothing wrong with that...what's wrong is when downloads a music then alters it then sells it. I wonder if Filipinos who uses KaZaa too liable to be in trouble?

Tuesday, September 16, 2003

Can't download anymore huh?!?!
I asked somebody lastnight to download a music but I think it's illegal now. Uhm..yeah who wants to be in the place of that 12 yr old who was charged with P2P off the net file sharing blah blah..I don't actually understand really..yeah I'm musically duh!
XBOX on the dashboard?
Uhmm, shrugs..like the car's dashboard? Or maybe I'm just dumb here?..gee!
Frenzied and bushed about the BUSH visit
News from Duyan.com via Manila Times and Drudge Report
Already there's talk that "according to source" of plotting to do something bad to the US President when he visits the country(for 8 hours only). Like assasination or something like that by the NPA. Uh oh..call those hundreds of security men of Bush! They were actually here yesterday inspecting the places he'll visit( for 8 hours only..gee can't emphasized that enough..hehe), those secret service men! Yay!
Yey, got no class today so I'm blogging about that :p and right now...am just listening to my downloads and browsing some blogrolls. The rolls are really feast for the eyes..and brains. Hehe. Anyhow it's cloudy in here and gee I hope it doesn't pour down
Not so Total Recall elections no
because of the outdmoded punch-card ballot machine...ruling by the court delays the Callifornia Recall vote. Okay maybe enough time for Ahhhhnuld to get some more pledge of support from different sectors..Gray Davis must be grinning! haha.. lets see what happens next :)

Damn Yankees here In the Philippines

The American Troops are here for exercise training with the local soldiers. Uh oh they're going to use their high powered armored vehicles and rifles and military hardware stuff again..and when they leave after their weeklong stint, the local ones will get their hands with the (new/old)expensive military stuff of US troops. I wonder what Pres. Bush will leave behind on his eight hour (stop over?) trip here! Hmm, news says Bush to push for "post-war" role for US in Philippines . Gee and the anti Bushies/ West/ American patrolling the world will rally against that.

AFM, I just want lotsa crunchy m&m's chocolates or ghiradellis! Hahaha ^__^
Oh no..the inevitable split!...
And Matt Damon's probably having a great day right now! Teheehee :) Haha, I blog about the canceled wedding(cos hey, erm..national gossip news..hehe) a few blogs below(scroll down your eyes), it seems that this time they've really Jennyben called the whole thing off. Aww *sob sob..and then snickers..and lol* Poor couple..the intense gazing public eye and constant news about them must've exploded in their face. Tabloids must be having a field day. Yayness! :)

Popular amongst his followers the bearded man is back in the limelight. He's got really big eyes too! Hehe.
Hello!?! Earth to France..wake up!
News via Washington post
GENEVA, Sept. 13 -- Secretary of State Colin L. Powell, arriving here early this morning for talks about what role the United Nations should play in rebuilding Iraq, labeled as "totally unrealistic" a French proposal that the United States should transfer power to the U.N. and Iraqis within the next month. Powell said France's proposal that Iraq establish a provisional government in a month, write a constitution by the end of this year and hold elections next spring---all under U.N. supervision---was "interesting, but not executable."

Ouch. and France gets the reject. Teeehee. US will not allow France or anyone else to have a say in whatever goes in Iraq except for them. Especially if it involves power in everything. It's always like that. Right?

Total (CALIFORNIA) Recall..newsies
Sacramento bee columnist Daniel Weintraub provides this weblog of all the going's on within the politics of the recall vote in the state.

My own blogging brain perspective asks what the Republican Convention would be like. Hollywood..ish I think. California is sooo full of teeming diversity of weirdness. Hehehe.

Jeepers Creepers and it's off

I couldn't resist not looking at this. AHEHEHE FUNNY! Poor media though, they get blamed. Geez some celebrities!! Tsk tsk *shakes head*. ..well maybe they've contributed to the stress of the couple but really....uhmm.. hehehe..yay
The day to remember
Because it wasn't just Americans who were victims of the terrorist acts but different nationalities as well. Filipinos included. The poignancy of remembering two years after is the bittersweet knowleged that all is not invain and that everyone who perished and died is being remembered in however small or big way one has to do. Read more

Two years after the attack they've move on but they haven't forgotten

Poignancy sets in as America remembers the tragedy that hit them September 11,2001 because of the acts of man whos main goal in life is to kill people in order for Americans to leave the role of superpower being. And that man Bin laden has purpotedly resurfaced and seems to be telling the U.S too that he is alive and that he will continue the terrorist acts he's been doing. They really need to capture him!
The world according to them
This movie seems to represent generation angst!

The great Technology taking over the U.S
It's just a gray, plastic box filled with silicon and wires that sits on the top of the TV. America's must have in their household. It must be really something for people to be talking about it..maybe I want TiVo..too! Hahaha :p. Oh wait..I wonder if that piece of thingie would work here!?!? ^_^

What a blank nonexistent Road Map to Peace means to them

It's President Bush's fault and that nowhere is this loss of purpose more evident than in Iraq where American soldiers find themselves increasingly the targets of a disenchanted population...

I guess it's like unless America stop supporting Israel and meddling and muscling their might in the Arab world, the Road Map to Peace..will just be a nice title for some failed endeavour..oh and terrorist attacks will most likely continue. Pres. Bush needs to have a peace plan that will satisfy..everyside..but not those that embraces terrorism.
Oh he's back, Slam pax..err Salam Pax
Baghdad blogger who became famous during the war in Iraq..out now with a book..Salam Pax describes what it was like to play cat-and-mouse with Saddam's censors

Hmm, I first encountered the name and reading something about him from Glenn Reynold's' Instapundit..I guess you're a "made" blogger..if you've been linked(or mentioned) by the biggies of the blogworld..hehe. I wonder though how much they paid him for the book..must be steep one.

Tuesday, September 09, 2003

The moon shines but it took cover(quickly) from the clouds. shucks..must be nice to have captured in on telescope or a camera lens..saw it when I went to the garage(cos sis came home) and looked up at the black sky. I think the universe is one big piece of great eye finds. :) Alrightie I'm gonna update my journal and I'm blogging off(cos I don't feel like multitasking). Geez I blog intermmitently. At least I blog with sense! Hahaha..yay!.well, I think do! :p. Wohoo it's Six Feet Under in a few minutes!
Nokia..a disappointment?
Maybe it's rivals are giving them hell? or maybe people want something new from the largest mobile phone company? Oh well, just reacting to Nokia's forecast of disappointing sales. Here, Nokia sales are big more than that of any other phone handset company. But I dunno, I have no facts to link and to verify that but I don't think I need to. It's pretty obvious if one resides here in this part of the world.

The dangers they face

linked via duyan full story from here
Media groups say they are disturbed by the rising tide of killings in a country that prides itself on having the freest press in Southeast Asia....the Brussels-based International Federation of Journalists said the Philippines was "in danger of becoming the new Colombia as one of the world's most dangerous places to practise journalism".

Yeah..better do something to protect them journalists..here or wherever else they report.

Forbidden Love in time of War (in IRAQ) and of Differences...

from Philadephia Inquirer....

It unfolds amid daily attacks on U.S. soldiers, car bombings of civilian targets, and massive demonstrations by residents demanding that fo
reign troops leave their country. But the letters Jassm and Velez have written each other since May describe a vastly different relationship between American and Iraqi...Read rest of the article here

What Weblogging has done to people and journalism

Weblogging is part of that process... This is an exciting time to be engaged with this explosive community of people. Across the world, faster and more randomly than anyone has yet been able to track and collate, webloggers are linking, posting, trackbacking, commenting, aggregating and moblogging their way through the first days of the 21st Century READ MORE OF THIS FROM Plasticbag.org

Uhm, next I think will see a growth in blogging via SMS too..soon

They're still at it! This time a car bomb explodes in Baghdad (nytimes r.r).

Who could be behind it? Probably doesn't care who gets killed even if it's one of their own.
Too much rainfall and gates of floods open. Hello MMDA, are you there? Hahahaa..as usual when the rain falls the floods in tow. Had classes earlier in the day but went home early.
